Scotlyn Ranch Kamiah, Idaho.
The ranch is located on the Camas Prairie in Idaho County. Four hours north of Boise, Idaho .4 hours South of Spokane, Washington & Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. 3 1/2 hours East of Missoula Montana. And just 20 minutes from Highway 12, the Northwest Passage Scenic By Way.
2,800 +/- acres of impressive mountain landscapes and canyons cutting through the Camas Prairie. Two creeks run through the canyons: Cottonwood Creek and Red Rock Creek. They are both year-round creeks. Their confluence is at the western end of the property and flows East to the South Fork of the Clearwater River. The creek beds and the North-facing canyon walls are heavily timbered. The entire canyon area is largely untouched and provides the local wild game with the perfect ecosystem to thrive. You can find many different types of apples trees and plum trees growing wild around the canyon. Big majestic rock walls, deep swiming holes and long green meadows make this canyon truly magical for you and the wildlife.
- 256 +/- acres of dry land farm that has a growing history of wheat, canola and hay. The land is eligible for ARPLC payments and is currently in winter wheat. No farm lease.
The beautiful owner's home is located at the end of a private road and is surrounded by farm ground and deep canyons. It has expansive views of the canyon and mountains beyond the prairie. The interior design is spacious and open leaving you with a sense of calm. The kitchen is beautifully crafted with custom cabinetry and the hope of entertaining large groups of friends and family. Kitchen is an open concept to the family room with large windows giving you an unobstructed view of the crimson sunsets. The owner's suite features an on suite with walk in shower and soaking tub with the famous views of the outdoors. Grand walk-in closet is ready for the best shoes and wardrobe.
The three bedrooms upstairs provide ample space for guests or children. The bonus room could be another bedroom if needed and is currently being used as a child's playroom. The theater room is ready to entertain your friends and family. Maybe your devotion lies with the simple tranquility of a private library. Two more rooms provide you with unshackled utility.
The house is connected to the large, oversized three-car garage with a mudroom and full bath. There is no reason to track the days' recreational spoils through the house.
With so many wonderful rooms and so much storage you will feel right at home here.
The 60×80 barn is built to protect your live stock’s feed and your back. Its large opening and open span roof make chores a breeze. Move and stack hay with a tractor. The large rocked area eliminates the risk of being stuck in the springtime mud.
The 30×100 addition to the barn provides you with a full tack room and all the farrier tools needed. Undercover stables provide a safe place for horses to get out from the weather.
Outbuildings and Shop
- The silo and auger system included to store and feed birdseed or grains.
Scotlyn Ranch has a regulation skeet field and a 5-stand sporting clay field. The sporting clays (pictured above) feature a beautiful view in the canyon below. The elevation change adds to the realism of wing shooting and has proven to add an element of difficulty even with the most experienced shooters.
There is a covered area for setting up or for spectators and interactive targets. The large dirt mount ensures a safe shooting area for the responsible sportsman. The pistol range also features an Old West .22 Plinking Gallery. The old west gallery has a bank, a sheriff’s office, a jail, and a store, all with reactive targets hanging in the windows – some spin, some flap, and some swing.
Long Range Shooting
With over 4.5 square miles of private land, Scotlyn Ranch has the room to shoot REALLY long distances! The rifle range includes metal targets from 100 yards out to a mile.
Wildlife on Scotlyn Ranch
Scotlyn Ranch strongly believes in the conservation and protection of the wildlife and bringing back animals that were native to the area prior to civilization and cultivation. When they purchased the ranch there were almost no Elk or Pheasant living on the property due to overgrazing of the land and lack of proper habitat for the animals. The current ranch plan limits cattle grazing to two months a year, repurposed 130 acres of farm fields for bird habitat, and food plots for wildlife. The results were amazing. Within two years the Elk returned to their historical wintering grounds, with over 100 head of elk wintering at the ranch last year. As part of this effort, they also established Scotlyn Ranch as a shooting preserve for upland birds and have created over 100 acres of dedicated bird habitat. You will now regularly see and hear farm-raised, but now wild Chukar and Pheasant throughout the northern part of the ranch. Efforts continue to extend this to the southern parts of the ranch and into the canyons.
