Montana’s Longest Running Bar For Sale in Glasgow Montana
The Montana Bar, in continuous operation since 1899, is well known as the longest running year-around bar/tavern in Montana. Steeped in history, this local Glasgow Montana staple has been in the Monson family since 1981 and is now available for sale. Sold as a Turn-Key operation, the Montana Bar is a favorite of local patrons, supremely located in a high traffic area, sure to also catch the eye of visitors and passers-by. The building, originally constructed in 1920, underwent a major remodel in the late 1970’s, with numerous updates since.
Main Street Commercial Building
Measuring approximately 2,904 total square feet, the main street commercial building consists of a 1,959 square foot “main bar” and a 956 square foot addition currently housing the poker and dart machines, live poker table, bandstand and serves as a gathering space for parties and events. The attic space, while currently unfinished, is of sufficient square footage to facilitate an apartment should the new owner decide living on site would be feasible. The 1970’s remodel afforded for an update to the building’s electrical and plumbing system and since then a new 5″ PVC sewer pipe was installed from the building to city main. In the last 5 years a new membrane roof was added to the building, as well as new LED lights in the main bar. A forced air furnace was installed in 2022 and insulation was added to the attic for increased efficiency. In 2020 a 30′ x 12′ covered patio was added at the rear of the building, allowing patrons to sit outside throughout the summer months. Continuing to improve the efficiency and appearance of the building, new front street windows and an exterior door were added. These windows can be opened or removed entirely to facilitate service from the bar outside allowing the establishment to participate in street dances and community events.
Long Time Local Establishment Focused on Involvement in Community Events
Long time supporters of community events, the bar owners participate year after year in the local “Catfish Classic” and are the official host for the Northeast Montana Pro Rodeo Cowboy Calcutta. A Fantasy Football League, Whist Tournaments, Darts and Pool League ensure reliable local business. Sports Betting and State Lotto machines can be found inside the bar, providing an additional income stream. A State of Montana Floatable Liquor License is included in the sale price, as well as all inventory on site.
Property taxes for the 2022 were $2,697 and city water/sewer runs at a monthly rate of approximately $115/month. Natural gas service is provided by Montana Dakota Utilities and Electric service is provided by Northwestern Energy at an average monthly rate of $450/month.
